Cleveland Stories: True until proven otherwise

April 1 – 30, 2011 @ the CIA Reinberger Galleries | Opening Event April 19

Exhibition | Programs | Work space – The Reinberger Galleries at the Cleveland Institute of Art and the CIA’s Coventry Road facility in Cleveland Heights will serve as the venues for story collection and exhibition. A story slam event will be held on February 24 to elicit real and fabricated stories about Cleveland. This event will also be an opportunity to pair storytellers with artist and designers who will then develop ideas for implanting these stories in the part of the city where the story takes place. Excerpts from the stories and drawings, models and films of these narratives will be exhibited at the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Reinberger Galleries from April 1 – 30. The mid-exhibit official opening event will be Tuesday, April 19th and will coincide with CIA’s Spring Show Open House.

Enter the Cleveland Stories Shoebox Diorama Challenge – construct a story you hear at the StorySlam (or one of your own invention) as a three-dimensional model in a shoebox. The most inventive dioramas will be exhibited in the Cleveland Stories exhibition at the CIA Reinberger Galleries from April 1 – April 30, 2011. Each winning diorama artist will receive $50! Diorama Entry Form
